British citizens have a few reasons to not like us yanks. First, we gave them the boot when we declared independence from the mother country, depending on your ancestry, as of a few days ago back in 1776. Then, in the early 1960s, Carroll Shelby took their AC Ace, brought it to America, stuffed it with a good ol’ yankee V8, and turned the car into a world beater. That car turned out to be the original Cobra, but now, as shown in this video, we’re pissing them off again…well, some of them, anyway, with the latest Shelby GT350R.
The Shelby GT350R made its rounds across the pond to introduce the car to the British market, and so it could make a few runs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. During its visit the car was parked in a London town square so the locals could give it a peek. Maybe it was to tease the European market since the GT350R is planned to only be sold in North America. Maybe it was to prove that Ford still knows how to build a world-beating car, and this time we didn’t have to borrow a British-bodied car to do it.
However, since England is our ally, we’ll go with the fact that Ford was just showing our friends across the pond what we’ve been up to. Judging by the video, some loved the Shelby GT350R, and others didn’t get why a car has to be so loud. Did they forget the Shelby GT350R is an American car?! We like it loud, we like it powerful, and we like to leave a pair of black marks at every stoplight. Those that didn’t get it, don’t get it, and that’s okay.
After all, the Shelby GT350R is ours, and you can’t have it.
