Tony Alm Looking To Run NMRA Street Outlaw And NMCA Extreme Street


Tony Alm has already made a name for himself in NMRA and NMCA competition, but in 2015 he hopes to take it up a notch and become a force to be reckoned with in both NMRA Street Outlaw and NMCA Extreme Street. He went to 8 races total in 2014, and went to 5 final rounds, so he’s on the cusp of big things as it sits.

To help accomplish his goals, Alm was busy during the off-season talking to different manufacturers, and one conversation with “Wild” Bill Devine at the 2014 PRI show proved fruitful. Devine recently became one of the shot-callers at Bullseye Power Turbochargers, and worked with Alm to get him one of the company’s 76mm turbochargers with which to run NMCA Extreme Street. Alm is able to weigh in at 3,000 pounds with the 76mm, which he feels is a good place for his Fox coupe.

Tony Alm Turbo 2Since Bullseye is still working  a 94mm turbocharger, Alm will still run a Precision 94mm single turbo in NMRA Street Outlaw, and when going back and forth between the two classes all he has to swap is the turbo and rear tires. In Street Outlaw, he’s allowed to run Mickey Thompson’s ET Street  Pro, whereas in Extreme Street that tire isn’t legal as of yet. Extreme Class rules mandate the original Mickey Thompson ET Street radial until the new Mickey’s are made legal for the class.

What isn’t changing is Alm’s engine builder of choice, MPR’s Tim Eichorn, who put together an 8.2-deck 363-in small block Ford with Edelbrock Victor heads, and a TFS-R lower with a Reichard Racing upper. An ATF Speed Turbo ‘Glide with a Pro Torque converter sits behind the little small block, while out back is a Chassis Engineering 9-in housing filled with Strange Engineering components. TigVision (David Dodge) added the rear suspension components, with Thunder Autosports’ Steve Lee doing the suspension set-up and tuning via Afco shocks and struts that have been re-valved by Menscer Motor Sports.

Much of Alm’s sponsorship comes in the form of him owning A-Pro Home Inspection Services in West Palm Beach, FL. You can see his strange finds on Facebook almost on a daily basis. He covers all of Palm Beach County, but he’s licensed in all of Florida, and hopes to branch out to the Clearwater, FL area, as well.  For 2015, Alm has picked up sponsorship support from DiabloSport and Blow-By Racing, which should enable him to run the complete NMRA/NMCA season.
