The evolution of automotive wheels has followed a weird and wacky trajectory, starting with the earliest cars that basically ran on rubberized wagon wheels. These “rims” put the dubs of today to shame, though it appears that the market for oversized wheels have finally settled down. Most cars, American muscle or otherwise, can be equipped with 20-inch rims without any adverse effects. And the right rims can really make the car.
Vossen Wheels, based out of Miami, Florida, has put together some pretty slick videos the past few weeks showcasing their wide variety of available shoes. They’ve rightly chosen Ford Mustang variants like the Boss 302 to demonstrate their slick new style, but their latest video ditches the Boss in favor of a 2012 Shelby GT500 on sexy concave-style wheels. Oh yes.
Although Vossen couldn’t get their hands on a brand new, 2013 Shelby with 662 horsepower, the 2012 model is still a monster muscle machine in the right hands. And both model Shelbys come from the factory wearing Ford’s take on 20-inch rims. But who wants to roll around on the same wheels as every other Shelby owner?
Not us. While Vossen offers a wide range of wicked wheels, we have to say that the concave look is especially sexy on these new Shelbys. The backdrop of an airport was also a wise move, though we were hoping to see some tire shredding action, this was clearly a classy day for this particular Shelby, and there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.
