While the 2013 refresh of the Ford Mustang is more evolutionary than revolutionary, Ford’s designers addressed many issues that plagued the previous generation. In addition to adding the new Track Apps and LED tail lights, the 2013 Mustang gets a Track Pack option to help weekend warriors outperform the competition at the drag strip. Ford also added a hot new color, Gotta Have It Green, which we’re sure will prove popular with buyers.
American Muscle is one of the first outlets to get their hands on the new 2013 Mustang GT, and in addition to their video review above, they also had a chance to take their new Mustang out to the drag strip. Place your bets now; how fast did they go?
Wisely, American Muscle went ahead and ordered their 2013 Mustang GT in Gotta Have It Green. They go over the car from front to back, going over the extensive changes to the 2013 Mustang model. Among their favorite improvements are the LED tail lights, though they have great things to say about about the 420 horsepower Coyote 5.0 engine. For the record, that’s an 8-horsepower increase over the 2012 model.
So how did that extra horsepower translate at the track? American muscle took their 2013 Mustang GT to a 12.74 second quarter mile at 111 mph, on 87 octane with just 200 miles (!!) on the odometer. They also ran a 2013 Mustang V6 Convertible, which managed a 14.9 at 95 mph. Sounds like Ford made a great car even better, and we can dig that.
