Most of us have, at one time or another, dreamed of being a race car driver. Some of us even get to fulfill those dreams, albeit on a limited basis as “weekend warriors.” Even so, it can take years of scrimping and saving to put together a halfway decent race team with any hope of making it to the championship.

Or you could do like 25-year old Chris Duplessis did; build your own rally car, borrow trucks and trailers, and end up racing for the 2wd championship this weekend at the New England Forest Rally.

According to Duplessis’ website, the Maine native started rally racing back in 2004, when he was just a teenager. He built his first rally car, a 1990 Volkswagen Golf, taking it to multiple championships before stepping up to a new Ford Fiesta. This video highlights his practice runs at the famed Team O’Neil rally driving school with a cute female co-pilot riding shotgun.

Duplessis isn’t the only youngin’ running in the rally races with a Fiesta these days. Dillon Van Way made quite a splash last year, though right now Duplessis stands at the top of the points chart, while Van Way sits in sixth place. Will he take home the gold at this weekend’s rally?
