As we’ve already written, this past weekend was the seventh round of the 2013 Formula Drift season, and for Ford fans it was a disappointing finish to a season of ups and downs. Still, win or lose drivers like Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin Jr. are paid to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get ready for the next, hopefully better season.
This video looks back on the final around of the 2013 season, which saw both Gittin and Pawlak fall early in the event, leaving neither a chance to move into the top three.
Justin Pawlak was the first to get knocked out when he went up against Daigo Saito, who would end up winning the final round (though not the championship) after beating Pawlak. The up-and-coming drifter was obviously disappointed, but for him the high-point of the season was the round in New Jersey, where he came in second place, his best finish for 2013.
As for Vaughn Gittin Jr., he seemed a little more upbeat about the roller-coaster ride that was his own season. While Gittin managed to get on the podium twice, after several middle-of-the-pack finishes, the 2010 Formula Drift champion fell far behind the eventual leaders. His final race didn’t go very well either, getting smoked out and going off of the track, ending his hopes for a better finish.
Hey, there’s always 2014, and hopefully an all-new Mustang, to look forward to.
