We have typed this same sentence over and over again on these web pages, but it is a sentence that cannot be emphasized enough; street racing is stupid. The dangers far outweigh the rewards, and many a street race has ended in tragedy over an inflated ego and poor driving skills. And when you combine those two factors, the result is often fatal.
Luckily for this Mustang driver, his street racing endeavors did not end his life. But his Fox-body Mustang is another story, and after seeing this slideshow of his wrecked ride, it’s amazing that this guy was able to walk (or hobble) away from this crash.
The story is short on details but long on pictures, and pictures speak a thousand words. This cherry red Fox-body Mustang is completely demolished, the result of a street racing wreck by the nameless driver’s own admission. He claims that he was street racing when a FedEx truck pulled out in front of him. He swerved, hit a curb, and then slammed into a telephone pole on the driver’s side.
The front fender has been peeled away, and the driver’s seat pushed back at least a foot The Mustang is bent and broken, and that roll cage didn’t appear to do much to help. Even so though, the driver hobbled off with a broken foot, which is a small miracle to be sure. This is as close to a fatal wreck as you can get and still walk away under your own power.
We hope this is another less for would-be street racers. Even if you survive, your ride might not. And for what? Pride? Ego? Keep your ego in check until you get to the track.
