The 2013 car show season officially kicked off with the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month, and automakers are already looking forward to the next big event in Chicago. Yet there are literally dozens of other, smaller car shows that are often overlooked as they lack big reveals or attractions.
The St. Louis Auto Show is just such an overlooked event, though this year organizers brought a special something-something to the show to help liven things up. That something is professional drifter and 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. And Gittin didn’t come alone, bringing both a Gotta Have It Green Mustang GT and his pro-tuned drift car to downtown St. Louis.
Vaughn Gittin Jr. is well known for his outlandish, attention-grabbing antics on the Formula Drift circuit, and the pro racer has had plenty of success on the track. Yet he seems quite at home putting on a big show for smaller crowds. There aren’t any Formula Drift events very close to St. Louis, so this is a big treat for the Gateway to the West.
As usual, Gittin puts on a great show, though the video doesn’t mention who his co-driver is. Could it be teammate and fellow Mustang drift Justin Pawlak? Mayhaps, though there is no doubt who the star of this tire-smoking event is. Keep your peepers peeled, as perhaps Gittin will be coming to a smaller auto show near you.
