It can be easy to take for granted the amazing horsepower that comes with today’s modern muscle cars. Even the base model Mustang now comes with a 305 horsepower V6 engine, nearly as much power as the 2010 Mustang GT. Before the 2011 engine makeover, six-cylinder Mustangs were…not good. The 4.0 liter V6 made a better boat anchor than Mustang engine, as anybody who has tried to keep up with anything faster than a Civic can tell you.

Alas, nobody told the driver of this V6 SN95 Mustang, who is seen in this video trying to do a burnout while his friends look on. A nearby Mustang GT only eggs him on by making a burnout look easy, and what follows is a broken transmission, and broken dreams.

The driver of “Pony” is clearly inexperienced at the art of the burnout. It can be a treacherous thing if you don’t know what you are doing, and many a clutch has been ruined by a poorly-executed tire shredding. As Pony rocks back and forth, trying to shred rubber, it becomes clear that something within the car is wrong.

But that doesn’t stop our driver who, egged on by a nearby Mustang GT (also of SN95 vintage), continues to abuse his poor and underpowered Pony. Hint to any would-be burnout artists; your car should not sound like a weed whacker. Diagnosis? A friend clutch at best, a ruined transmission at worst. Peer pressure can have that effect…
