Vintage Mustangs and drinking alcoholic beverages only mix when both are kept in the garage. If you’re the kind of moron who drinks and then gets behind the wheel of any vehicle, but especially a classic Mustang with no safety features, archaic brakes, but a lot of heavy metal, then you simply don’t deserve to drive such a nice car. Karma (or the police) will catch up to you sooner or later. Hell, you don’t even have to be drinking to get into an accident like this; if you hoon too hard, you’re just as likely to wrap your Mustang around a tree.
Such crashes are thankfully rare, but not entirely unheard of. The famed Chris “the Doc” Ingrassia of Operation Mustang last year shared the sad story of this classic Mustang coupe. Amazingly, the driver survived, albeit with serious injuries. The Mustang though is nothing more than a parts car now.
In case you haven’t heard, Operation Mustang sees the Doc take on all manner of wrecks and rust buckets in an attempt to fix, sell, and hopefully profit off of someone else’s abandoned project. While many cars can be saved, some are just too far gone to make any sort of financial sense. This is one of those cars.
The driver appears to have put his Mustang into a telephone pole, possibly due to excessive drinking. Though the life of this Mustang is over, it will live on in other vehicles as parts are gathered from this wreck to finish more serviceable cars. Despite the severity of the accident though, we think this classic Mustang held up pretty damn well, and the driver did survive. That’s the important thing.
But no car can protect you from drinking behind the wheel. Just a reminder, don’t drink and drive, especially in a classic Mustang.
