It’s Mustang Girl Monday brought to you by Team Mustang Girls! Meet Erin Picklesimer, the owner of Erin’s Pit Stop and a ’99 GT 35th anniversary edition Mustang! Erin has loved mustangs ever since she was a little girl. “My toys were matchbox cars not barbie dolls.” Erin remembers when the girl next door got a 93 Fox Body Mustang, ever since then she has been in love! When she was 16 years old she started tinkering with cars and the passion grew more and more.
Erin has always been a fan of Rosie the Riveter and women thriving in a man’s world. Then she had the amazing idea of opening a female mechanic shop. “Even though I have men that work at my shop I was still able to keep a woman in mind” says Erin. The shop is hot pink, black and white race themed. It’s clean with a free coffee bar and a kid’s play area. Erin has made a point of taking care of the women that walk through her door and changing people’s opinions about car maintenance. “60-percent of the customers in my shop are women. I try to show them the problem with their car and explain it in a way they can understand”. Her business is doing great!
Six years ago Erin bought her first Mustang, a ’99 GT 35th anniversary edition. Since owning her car she has painted it satin black, added smoked Raxiom headlights, and purchased a new engine that she currently has torn apart to to prep for a supercharger. It’s still a work in progress. Erin’s dream car is a 67 Shelby GT 500 which she has tattooed on her arm and also served as her inspiration for her logo. And she plans to build it just the way she wants it! She has a true obsession for Mustangs and her Stang will always have a spot in her garage. Erin has learned from previous owners and says ” I always hear people say I used to have a classic Mustang, man I wish I’d never sold it. That won’t be my story!”
Each week Team Mustang Girls features a different woman and her Mustang. If you’d like to see the past featured ladies from Mustang Girl Monday or submit your own Mustang story check out the Team Mustang Girls Facebook page.
