In other news out of Australia, the world record-holding Moits Racing team has completed repairs to their damaged Ford Mustang and just last week unveiled a sinister new look as they aim to get back on track after a scary incident back in November.
Moits Racing driver Paul Mouhayet went for the ride of his life while shaking Moits’ Outlaw 10.5 Mustang down at the Sydney Dragway, when a catastrophic tire failure at the conclusion of a 244 MPH pass demolished the rear half of the beautiful machine. Only a masterful driving on par with anything we’ve ever witnessed on the part of Mouhayet saved he and the car from taking a horrifying shot into the concrete barrier.
Mouhayet suffered minor injuries from the sudden explosion debris into the cockpit, and the car, particularly the right rear and passenger side, showed some considerable damage. But forge on the team did, replacing much of the bodywork and interior panels over the last three-plus months. The result is a killer new, all-block look, set off by a set of dark charcoal-colored racing stripes extending from the nose back to the rear wing.
The skinny Kid Race Cars-built Mustang is the current world record holder for a doorslammer equipped with 10.5W tires, having ripped off a mind-numbing 252.95 MPH blast in August of last year that was paired with a 5.99-second elapsed time. After arriving in Australia, the car was overhauled by GD Race Cars in Sydney and outfitted with a Proline Racing 481X twin-turbo engine combination fit for some record-setting.
The incident put the brakes on Moits Racing’s impressive momentum on the race track as they worked to shock the world by pushing the performance boundaries even further, and with the team’s return, big things can be expected out of Mouhayet and company.
