Sunday Morning News

Its another beautiful day here at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. The temperatures are a little on the chilly side and don’t expect to be up above the low 70’s all day. Last night we saw several records broken. With the racers being on kill for eliminations and the points chase getting tighter it’ll make for some exciting racing today!

First Round Eliminations

After the first round of qualifying five classes are now in the semi finals and three classes are in the finals. Pro Outlaw 10.5 will see Conrad Scarry and Jim Brown pair up. Sam Vincent and Phil Hines will battle it out in Super Street Outlaw. And in BF Goodrich Drag Radial, Enzo Pecchini and Jason Lee go head to head.

In Factory Stock Tommy Godfrey and teammate Matt Amrine are set to race each other. On the opposite side of the ladder it’ll be Carlos Sobrino and Jay Dold. Brandon Alsept has a bye to the finals in Pure Street and will be waiting to see who his competition is after Shawn Johnson and Steve Gifford take the tree. In Real Street news,  Craig Baldwin could not get his car to refire under the tower, giving the broke bye to Eric Tate. Bruce Hemminger took out Jim Breese and now has a bye to the finals.

Mid track through this run by Johnny Mac, something let go causing him to get into his own oil and tapping the left side wall before stopping center track just past the traps. John Urist also had engine troubles and had to shut it off mid track. Phil Hines and Sam Vincent will square off in the SSO finals.

It'll be Jim Brown and Conrad Scarry in the Pro Outlaw 10.5 finals. Mike Murillo had to shut off after his burnout, giving Brown the bye.

Chad Allmandinger took out Bart Tobner to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

We're already in the semis in Edelbrock Hot Street, with Bowles, Booze and Blankenship still in the fight.

Sunday Semi Finals

Tim Matherly stood it on the bumper and was on a wild ride getting dangerously close to the wall during the semis against Eric Tate but held on to take the win in Real Street. In Pure Street Shawn Johnson took out Steve Gifford and will be racing Brandon Alsept for the win. Both Pure Street finalists ran identical ET’s and MPH 10.07’s at 132. It’ll be Bob Cook verses Chris Van Gilder in the EFI Renegade finals. Charlie Booze took out Don Bowles to end the semi rounds and will face Robbie Blankenship in the Hot Street finals.

Bruce Hemminger didn't take the easy road with his semi final bye run. He blasted a 9.34 second pass to secure lane choice for the finals against Tim Matherly.

Pure Street racer Brandon Alsept will be racing Shawn Johnson in the final. Both racers ran identical times in the semis.

Three time champion Tommy Godfrey was taken out in the semis by JPC teammate Matt Amrine. Amrine will face Carlos Sobrino in the Factory Stock finals.

 Sunday Event Finals

Carlos Sobrino turned on the redlight giving Matt Amrine the win in ACT Factory Stock. Shawn Johnson takes the win in Eibach Springs Pure Street over Brandon Alsept. In an amazing final in Steeda Real Street, Bruce Hemminger reset the record for the second time this weekend with a 9.28 at 145 to take the win against Tim Matherly. Matherly put on a show yet again with a monster bumper dragging wheel stand that went well past the hundred foot mark. Jason Lee takes his fifth win of the season in BF Goodrich Drag Radial over Enzo Pecchini. Charlie Booze Jr wins Edelbrock Hot Street by way of an .004 redlight set off by Robbie Blankenship. In one of the biggest upsets of the season, Phil Hines takes the win over Sam Vincent in Super Street Outlaw with a 7.82 at 187 miles per hour. And in the final race of the event, Jim Brown grabs his very first win against Conrad Scarry in Pro Outlaw 10.5 as Scarry got loose down track and crossed the center line. Brown stayed in it and had the car working to the tune of a 7.08 at 192 miles per hour.

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 32 Annual NMRA All Ford Expo!
