Among the new cars debuting at this weekends ADRL opener down in Houston will be a new machine for Terry Leggett, and in what has become a rarity these days, it won’t be a 1968 Camaro. When qualifying opens for the CarSafe Dragpalooza VII on Friday, Leggett, a bonafide Ford man, will roll this brand new supercharged Pro Extreme Mustang into the waterbox to face what is expected to be some incredibly stiff competition in 2011.

Leggett has a staunch following in the Southern doorslammer arena and holds a decorated list of accomplishments during his career, including being the sixth driver to join the Sonny Leonard 200-MPH Pro Stock Club, and one of the first to break the 6.90 barrier in Pro Stock.

In addition to the new chariot, Leggett is now part of a multi-car team effort that includes tuner and supercharger manufacturer Darren Mayer, championship chassis builder and longtime Pro Mod racer Alan Pittman, and Aaron Wells, winner of three Outlaw Pro Modified championships. Wells has a brand new Pittman-built ’69 Camaro that will also debut in Houston, and Pittman himself will join the fray at the second event at Palm Beach International Raceway next month.

Mayer will assist in the tuning of all three cars, while also supplying the superchargers from his company, Darren Mayer Performance Engineering. His expertise in chassis and engine design, combined with Pittman’s expertise in chassis development working alongside the likes of Scotty Cannon should make this trio of accomplished racers one formidable trio in Pro Extreme this season.
