The SVT name doesn’t often get applied to a pickup truck, but the few times it has, the results were spectacular. So it is these days with the SVT Raptor, particularly with the latest available engine, the 6.2-liter provides enough power for competition use. Still, you can grab up to 20 hp more by installing a K&N Performance air intake system.
The K&N power gain is based on the use of a washable high flow K&N air filter as part of the overall package. Installation of their kit, part number 77-2579KTK, has shown immediate and direct power output gains. The estimated gain of 20 horsepower at 4830 rpm is a significant amount of extra power derived from a traditional air intake installation.
Since the OEM airbox and washer reservoir are mounted together, the K&N kit includes a new washer reservoir to replace the removed one. Full, clear installation instructions are also provided. On an otherwise stock SVT Raptor, installing the K&N performance air intake system resulted in gains of 20 horsepower and 21.8 ft-lb of torque.
In normal usage, the K&N filter can go up to 100,000 miles before needing to be cleaned with K&N’s Recharger Kit. Making it tough and durable enough to be the last air filter you’ll ever need for your truck, K&N backs the product with a one million mile warranty.
Note that this intake system is legal for street use in most states. However, it is not legal for street use in California and other states that have adopted California Emissions Standards under Section 177 of the Federal Clean Air Act of 1970.
