As the next generation of police cruisers rolls onto the streets of America, the retiring cadre – largely made up of Ford Crown Victorias – will be finding new homes. Until recently, this meant being resold to security companies, taxi fleets and other less glamorous duties.
However, one enterprising UK-based company is snapping up late model Ford P71 Police Interceptors and importing them to England.
USA Cop Cars Ltd, in partnership with Warranty Direct, is providing the cars, which have less than 75,000 miles on them, complete with police equipment including spotlights, microphones and roof lights. Detailed recreations of federal and state police liveries can be arranged through the importer.
Advertised as having Mustang engines and F150 suspensions, the cars are said to be “Rare American Muscle.” Apparently, rentals are also available and the cars are fully legal to drive throughout Europe.
According to the company web site, “… we have investigated and researched every aspect of the cars which may conflict with European law. We therefore know exactly what modifications must be made to each car, and how to achieve them without compromising their authentic appearance and sound.”
Ready to go vehicles reportedly start from £23,000 ($37K) with external decoration being extra. We can’t wait to hear of the first one to arrive in a desert country with U.S. Navy livery applied.
