Hey! Where did the season go? It’s not even August and we’re looking at Race 9 out of 10 this weekend. The B+ Foundation Heroes 200 will take place at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ.
Drivers’ cool suits are bound to get a workout as the heat wave dominating the Northeast shows little sign of breaking. Weekend forecasts are calling for daytime high temperatures just under the century mark and this could certainly be enough to introduce reliability issues.
Heading into this weekend, both the driver championships in both GS and ST classes could be wrapped up if the cards fall right. After a disastrous weekend at Laguna Seca, no Mustang drivers or teams are currently in a Top 3 position.
Both ROUSH Performance and Multimatic Motorsports will be out in full force at New Jersey, along with the Brad Adams/Ben Crosland duo for Race with RP, Tony Buffomante and Kyle Gimple driving the Capaldi Racing Mustang GT, and the East Coast team of Scott Panzer and Todd Snyder from Frederick Motorsports.
The herd will face off against a half dozen Camaro GS.R entries including the Stevenson Motorsports entry that took the top step on the podium in California. The offshore contingent is well represented by a bevy of nine BMW M3 entries, along with a couple of Porsches and a single Subaru.
Counting the ST entrants, 54 cars are scheduled to take to the track for the the B+ Foundation Heroes 200 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
You can see the pre-race comments from ROUSH Performance drivers Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr. about the upcoming race, starting at 1:20 into the video below.
