Have you ever wondered what the result would be if you had a record-breaking, high five-second door slammer and took the traction away? Well, that’s apparently what Australian Rob Campisi wanted to find out as he unbolted the large slicks from his big block Mustang.

Campisi recently mounted up a set of 10.5W rear tires and launched his way into the record books once again. We’ve got to admit – even we didn’t see that coming! Rob’s twin turbocharged, 632 cubic inch CV Performance-backed Ford Mustang blasted the Sydney Dragway quarter mile in 6.38 seconds at 236.42 MPH.

To add to an amazing pass, the car actually looks comfortable and goes surprisingly straight on the small tires. This accomplishment makes Campisi’s sleek blue Mustang the quickest 10.5W tire car in Australia.

Campisi, however, is no stranger to being the fastest around. As reported on by Dragzine last season, his Mustang was the first Aussie turbo car to run in the five second range. With a little internet tuning help from Detroit, Michigan’s Mike Moran, Campisi ran 5.96 last fall. Around a month later the Mustang became the first door slammer to reach 260 mph in a quarter mile. Elapsed times in the 5.90s and speeds as high as 260mph prove that the guys down under are making grand horsepower.

This latest feat of hooking the monstrous Mustang on 10.5W’s shows that they’re more than capable of tuning the suspension as well. So what’s next for Rob? Is there a sub six-second small tire pass on deck?
