It was a devastating loss after the passing of automotive car legend, Carroll Shelby, last month at the age of 89. There have been Shelby meets all over the world honoring the man who changed the automotive world forever. Although he passed almost a month ago, the world is still in shock as the Shelby buzz continues on through the internet, internet forums, and car shows everywhere.
A memorial Shelby tribute was held at the Peterson Automotive museum in L.A. where over 100 Shelby cars from the King Cobra to the new Mustang Shelby 1000 revved their engines to honor of the late Mr. Shelby. The stunning exhibit in the album of photos shows Shelby cars such as the super car Ford GT, The GT40, Shelby GT500s for days, plus the Shelby GT500KR as well as the first aftermarket Mustang produced, the GT-350. Let’s not forget the 289, 289 FIA, and 427 Cobras. The list of cars continues on.
There really is nothing like a bunch of Shelby Performance cars spanning the years gathering around and revving their engines at the same time in honor of the man himself. It’s a song that the car enthusiast can appreciate, the sound of a mean engine and exhaust. We all know Carroll would have appreciated such an effort and a gathering of cars new and old that he helped produce himself. What a fantastic tribute to a man gone, but certainly not forgotten. Not like he could ever be forgotten paving the American auto world into what it is today.
