In the UAE, the Ford Mustang is very common considering that it’s an aesthetically-pleasing, decently priced car with amazing performance potential. Whether seriously cruising or just leisurely driving, the ‘Stang will scratch any driving itch you may have. They can be found just about everywhere in the UAE just for those reasons.

There’s one family that lives in Dubai that share a common bond. Fellow gear head Tobias Klein, 28, moved to Dubai from Hamburg in Germany with his mom and dad. Between him and his father being complete gearheads, together they both share a 1992 Porsche 928 GTS. Besides the Porsche, Tobias has a new Golf GTI and his father owns a ’99 Jaguar XJR. However, among the collection of cars that they have, there’s one that really has a grasp on Tobias and it comes in the form of a ’91 Fox Body Mustang.
The story behind it has sentimental value. The Mustang belonged to his fiancée’s father who passed away two years ago. His wife was going to sell it but Tobias stepped in and decided he wanted to restore the car himself.
It was quite a project ahead as the car was not running and had endured some horrible corrosion. It was enough of a project to have Tobias questioning whether to continue on with the build or just throw in the towel. One big problem being that the Mustang parts in the UAE are much harder to come by over there than they are in the Mustang’s homeland, the USA where you can find just about anything OEM and aftermarket for any year Mustang easy as cake.
Continuing on through such a crazy build, he did find the right people to help bring the ‘Stang back to show room quality. Not only that, but a few aftermarket goodies were added such as suspension alterations and a Ron Davis Racing cooling system, new water pump with a 40% increased flow, exhaust system, and audio system. The entire engine was rebuilt as well after some water was found in one of the cylinders.
New paint was also added in Matte White giving it a whole exterior different look. Tobias mentions that the car is often asked about with people wanting to buy it but it’s definitely not. Never meeting his fiancee’s father and not having the chance to now, he’s happy to bring something he once loved back into the family looking better than brand new.
Is this bad boy a daily driver? Not quite. He calls it a “straight line car” more than anything. It hardly rains in Dubai so when it actually does, the roads become ridiculously slick for a car such as this. There is an Emirates Mustang Club where he has enjoyed several trips sometimes up to 50 cars that join in complete with a police escort. How awesome is that?
