Here in the United States, home of the Ford Mustang, classic Shelby Mustangs can be found gracing car shows or cruisin’ the roads on sunny Saturdays. It’s not uncommon to stumble across a classic Shelby. Websites like eBay and Craigslist often have them listed to sell from one car collector to another, and auction sites such as Barrett-Jackson and Mecum usually have a few ready to cross the auction block. Chances are, if looking for one in particular, it can be found.
However, in France it’s a different story. Unless a hefty penny is paid for import, these cars are hard to come by. In France, Mustangs are not sold at dealers and can only be imported in or sold by someone who has already shipped one over, and they do not come cheap. That’s why it came as a surprise when not just 1, but 2 Shelby Mustangs were found in one French collection. What’s even better is that both of these cars are super low mileage with around 30,000 miles on the clock.
The first is a 1969 Shelby GT350 listed for 120,000 euros which equals to about $155,310 in U.S. dollars. The other, a Wimbledon White 1967 Shelby GT350 looks to have been sitting for quite some time and is listed for 130,000 euros which equals out to $168,114. The blue ’69 looks to be in great shape, but the white one looks like it has been sitting for awhile. Not much is known about these cars except what is listed on the website, but it doesn’t look like they need much work. However, engine shots are not available. The ’69 Mustang doesn’t have any stripes indicating that it is a Shelby GT350, but the Shelby emblem is apparent on the steering wheel.
Sure, France has many enthusiasts, and they even have their own Mustang club, the Mustang Club de France which was started back in 1984. These enthusiasts likely dropped a huge chunk of change on their cars, on top of thousands to get the car transported overseas. We even know a few US collectors who would probably like to get their hands on these cars, wouldn’t that be a story, finding an original Shelby in Europe, and bringing it back to the USA.
