Holcomb Motorsports Outlaw Spring Nationals This Weekend at Mooresville

BoostedGT

Holcomb Motorsports has been hosting drag races for years, dating back to the historic Civil Wars series of races. The mail-order performance parts outlet shows no signs of slowing down with this weekend’s Outlaw Spring Nationals at Mooresville Dragway.

The race will feature many of the popular drag race classes everyone has come to love. Not to mention there are substantial amounts of money up for grabs in each class, as well. There will be no shortage of Mustangs on the property, since our favorite car dominates this type of outlaw-style drag racing.

Holcomb Spring NationalsThere will be an Outlaw 275 and X275 class, but also True Street and SSCA Pure Street. Outlaw 275 and X275 should be no stranger to ‘Stangbangers, but True Street is a junior X275 class with restrictions placed on power adder combinations, and in this setting Pure Street is a nitrous-only class on 28s or 275s. The big news for X275 is that if the class boasts 24 racers, it pays $10,000 large to win.

There’s also a No Time/Grudge Shootout for anyone on 28s or 275s. After the tire limitations, “Anything goes,” says Holcomb Motorsports’ Kenny Holcomb. Speaking of anything goes, there will be a 4.70 Outlaw index class at the event for those faster cars that may not fit into a heads-up category. The event will have a 6.0 and 7.0 index class, as well as a Pro Tree Doorslammer index class, too. The Pro Tree Doorslammer class will be run on, of course, a Pro Tree, and be limited to door cars. And then for the entry-level racer, a foot-brake class on Saturday and Sunday that pays $1,000 to win.

A special treat for everyone at the event is when BoostedGT and “The Cutty” from Discovery’s Street Outlaws will be on hand for a good ol’ grudge race. No word on if it’ll be a best-of-3 race, but Kenny Holcomb tells us he believes they will line it up a couple times during the event. Holcomb also told us racers can enter to win a chance to race either BoostedGT or The Cutty heads-up to see how their car stacks up against the TV show regulars.

Sounds like Mooreseville Dragway will be the place to be this weekend.
