We have waited with great anticipation to see what the 2015 Mustang S550 will look like. There have been all manner of renderings based on guesses and spy photos. We’re happy to report to you today that at least part of the wait is over.
The guys at Mustang6g are at it again, and while just yesterday we brought you their latest renderings done by Wild Speed, today we find that they’ve actually managed to get their hands on what the front of the Blue Oval’s new pony car will look like. Mustang6g paid for spy photos of the 2015 S550 Mustang doing track testing without the full front end camo. Mustang6g has given us permission to use one photo and ask you to go to their site for the rest.
The S550 has been spotted in the wild wearing in Arizona, and we’ve even seen reports that it’s been spotted under similar conditions in Australia, where Ford recently confirmed it would replace the FPV Falcon as Oz’s performance car.

The images from Mustang6g clearly show the heavily influenced Evos concept look in the front of the Mustang. While some may scoff at this idea of corporate faces, even going as far as calling the car a Fusion, consider this. Corporate faces have been around for a long time. Look at the Ford cars of the 1980s, sit a Taurus, a Mustang, an Escort, and a Tempo side by side from that era. They all used similar style headlamps, similar grilles, and even had some similarities in the bumper designs. The same could be said of the 70’s and 90’s as well. While the current S197 Mustang went about it’s own way, Ford is once again looking to have a brand identity throughout the product line.
While the face may be different, even through the camouflage covers we can tell that the S550 Mustang retains it’s basic shape and lines, we’ve had enough experience looking at camo clad cars over the years to discern much about the shape from those photos. That doesn’t mean we can’t wait to see the real thing in the flesh, inside and out, but until then we will have to rely on the clever and capable work of those like the guys at Mustang6g, and what our own imaginations come up with as well.
