We’ve been waiting for this, and today is the day. Today Ford will begin taking orders from dealers all over the USA for the 2015 Mustang. This will be the first allocation of Mustangs, and each dealer will get a specific number of Mustangs. Allocation in the past has been based on the number of Mustangs sold the previous year, we don’t know if Ford is sticking to that or if they’re looking to push more Mustangs to most dealers as demand for the all new 2015 is expected to be extremely high.
One big disappointment about today is that Ford is still quiet on the final horsepower numbers, sticking to the “more than” statements in their press release. Ford also did not post any official delivery dates for the cars. Also for all you sun lovers looking for a convertible, there won’t be one available on this first run, we’ve seen in other articles that the convertibles will start being built on Job 2.
New standard equipment includes:
- Fully independent front and rear suspension for improved driving dynamics and ride quality
- Eight airbags including front, knee and side-impact protection for driver and front passenger
- Individual tire pressure monitor readouts for each wheel
- Rear view camera system
- High-intensity discharge headlamps with signature lighting
- Illuminated, locking glove box
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with manual tilt and telescope adjustment
- Intelligent access, enabling the driver to enter without touching the key fob
- Push-button start
- SYNC® connectivity system with next-generation AppLink™ to control smartphone apps with simple voice commands; 4.2-inch color display and two USB ports
As we suspected there is also a 50th anniversary appearance package, which will add the 50th grille, badges, stitching and wheels to any GT premium, or EcoBoost premium Mustang. No word on pricing on anything but the base V6 which starts at $24,425 according to Ford.
We want to know, will you be headed to your local Ford dealer today to pick your options and plaice a deposit on a 2015 GT? If you’ve been there are you encountering any kind of dealer premiums or markups on the first run of cars?
