When it comes to just about anything involving major change, many people just don’t like it. If it’s not broken, why fix it? Well, change is crucial when it comes to evolving, especially in the automotive industry. When the 2015 Ford Mustang was first debuted, enthusiasts were not shy about voicing their opinions when it came to this newly redesigned pony. Some people liked it right away, while others refused to give it a chance. The same thing happened with the introduction of the S-197 platform for the ’05 model year, and nearly every Mustang model change ever.

Now that the S550 is being sold at Ford dealers everywhere, the new platform has grown on most naysayers, and the sales numbers speak for themselves. For the month of March, the Mustang outsold both the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger combined – again. That’s right.

Let’s talk numbers. Ford sold an outstanding 12,663 Mustangs in the month of March alone. While March sales were incredible for the Mustang, we can’t say the same for GM’s Camaro, which sold just 5,956 coupes and convertibles combined. The Dodge
Challenger almost had a record-breaking month with 6,110 units sold, just 22 away from becoming the Challenger’s best selling month to date. Usually lagging behind its competitors, the Challenger also beat the Camaro’s sales for March.

Being just three months in and with some states still blanketed in snow, Ford Motor Company sold a total of 29,811 Ford Mustangs so far this year. Last year, that number wasn’t touched until sometime mid- to late-May.
