Mr. Hoonigan himself and his Falken Monster Energy RTR Mustang made podium this weekend for the first time in a long time. Vaughn Gittin Jr. drifted his way to victory in New Jersey during the fourth race of the Formula Drift Series, landing first place on the podium next to Dai Yoshihara and Chris Forsberg.
Vaughn Gittin Jr. met Chris Forsberg in the final four bracket and edged him on out to get the win despite a good run by Forsberg in the 370z. He then beat out his teammate for Falken tires and drift rival, Daijiro Yoshihara. It was another great run except Dai straightened out his car losing points in the final round. It’s all good between both of these drivers since both started the series out together.
Justin Pawlak went up against Fredric ‘the Norwegian Hammer’ Aasbo who had a transmission give out in the Scion during one of the turns. Vaughn then duked it out with Matt Powers, and the judges gave the win to Vaughn who went on to win the entire event.
Vaughn Gittin Jr. had an incredible run in the Falken ‘Stang ultimately taking first place at this event in Jersey. Although teammate Justin Pawlak didn’t make the podium this go around, he is dominating the leader board of the entire series at 342 points while Vaughn holding fourth down. With three races left, it is bound to be an interesting race for sure. We can’t wait to see who comes out on top this year!
