The 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby “Super Snake” is one exciting car to take on a tour across the Eastern side of the United States. With 800 hp under the hood, the trip should be anything but ordinary. This Mustang has been decked out in patriotic colors to support the Wounded Warriors Family Support for the third annual High Five tour to thank Americans for their support of military families. So far the Super Snake has only 83 miles on the odometer, but after the trip it is estimated to have a good 16k under its belt.
This patriotic Shelby Mustang will turn a few heads along the way. Folsom said Wounded Warriors Family Support chose the particular model of car because it is emblematic of the United States’ “unapologetic strength and fearlessness.” Amen. It’s already turning heads, too. The red, white and blue beast of a Mustang has a donated Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger kit that really makes it whistle.
“I have been driving down the road minding my own business, when a vehicle will slow next to me and the guy will lean over with his cellphone to take a picture,” Folsom said. “This is as we are driving down the interstate.”
While they make their rounds, they will raise funds and awareness for the Wounded Warriors Family Support’s mission, which is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. The founder of Wounded Warriors is retired Col. John Folsom and he will start the tour alongside drivers retired Lt. Gen. John Sylvester, USA and retired Maj. Gen. Arnold Fields, USMC. The tour will kick off on June 25th and run through Aug. 18th and will have 50 cities in more than 30 states underway. They plan on stopping at Ford dealerships, military bases and auto events.
The proud Mustang will soon be sporting some autographs and words of encouragement on the body. Wounded Warriors Family Support would love Americans from all walks of life to come out and show their support and sign the car with a message of support for our veterans. A contribution of $5 is welcome by texting “highfive” to 20222. The eastern leg of the 2012 High Five Tour will raise funds toward Operation Tyler, which helps build a “smart home” for Lance Cpl. Tyler Huffman and his family. Huffman was injured in Afghanistan on Dec 3, 2010 when he was struck in the chest by an enemy sniper.
Supporters are welcome to cheer on the Wounded Warriors Family Support Mustang anywhere along the High Five Tour route. A real time GPS tracking device is installed on the Mustang that will permit supporters to see where the car is traveling on the High Five Tour website, www.highfivetour.com. Supporters are encouraged to show their support with banners, signs or even a simple wave.
The toll free number is (888) 872-0114 and open to all supporters who want to send greetings, ask questions, or invite the Mustang for impromptu stops along the way.
