When it comes to building SEMA Show cars, time is of the essence. Some are more intricate than others, but they all have to be there when the show opens.
This project is rather more complicated than the standard SEMA show car build, in Tiger’s case for two reasons. The World Challenge GTS regulations are still evolving and that creates a degree of uncertainty about what can and cannot be done. As well, there is a lot more work to get done in the four weeks ahead of the show… way beyond gathering a collection of bolt-on parts.
This is not Brown’s first SEMA Car. He built and displayed another Mustang race car at the 1994 show. With a long history in the racing industry, Brown’s crew is well experienced in converting cars under tight dead-lines. You’ll see in the video that they have removed the roof of the Mustang preparing for the possibility of replacing it with a carbon fiber version, but you’ll also appreciate how much easier it makes working inside the car – even if they have to put the steel roof back on.
In this video, Tiger Racing’s Paul Brown guides us through his team’s all-out conversion to build a World Challenge racing Mustang from a showroom stock 2011 Mustang GT.
