When it comes to the 2011 Mustang, most people think that the only difference between the 2010 and 2011 is the engine and transmission – that is totally wrong. Ford did a fair amount of suspension changes to the 2011 Mustang and while some might be subtle, there are still slight variances. BMR picked up a 2011 Mustang and found this out, knowing they had to get to work on the suspension changes, and that they did.
Even the springs and sway bars have been stiffened from the 2010 to 2011, so much that some of BMR’s upgraded sway bar pieces ended up being almost the same size as the 2011s. Also, the upper rear control arm has drastically changed. This has always been a problem spot for noise on the S197 Mustangs and Ford has redesigned it to help that problem.
The front control arms are slightly different, utilizing a larger ball joint and BMR has answered that with their slight re-design. Also the K-member is completely different due to the electronic steering box and BMR has rebuilt that piece, virtually from scratch. One of the few pieces that remained the same is the rear lower control arms and relocation brackets. Be careful when buying parts for your 2011 Mustang because some may sell you 2010 pieces that don’t know the difference!
