Last week Saleen delivered a Mustang to the Riverside Police Department that is designed to draw attention to the Police Officers’ Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance the families of fallen officers in Riverside, California, and its surrounding communities. The 730-horsepower S550 will also be used to recruit new officers and broaden community support for the department.

“This is one of the fastest police vehicles ever built. It is one of the most exciting projects Saleen Automotive has been involved in,” Steve Saleen, CEO of Saleen Automotive, Inc., said. “If you are attempting to elude the police in the Riverside Department’s jurisdiction, beware; your chances of getting away are quite slim.”

Saleen upgraded the Mustang with a twin-screw charger, a high-flow exhaust, bigger brakes and a handling suspension. Inside Saleen gauges enhance the standard police equipment and the exterior wears Saleen body upgrades along with the police graphics and lighting.

“We are excited and pleased to receive delivery of this Special Edition Saleen Mustang,” Detective Aurelio Melendrez, who also serves as vice president of the Riverside Police Officers’ Association, said. “It brought incredible smiles to those in the department who were on hand to take delivery. Steve Saleen has even trained a few of the officers to handle the speeds this supercharged patrol car is capable of attaining, which might just come in handy if this pony is called into pursuit duty.
