Saturday Morning News

Cars are continuing to roll in this morning here at National Trail Raceway for the 32nd Annual NMRA Ford Expo. We’re currently in test and tune mode as the last few cars make their way into the staging lanes. There have been a few delays from spillage and clean up on the track which required second round of qualifying to be pushed back from it’s original 10:30am scheduled time. Stay tuned for updates on qualifying and news from the pits!

Saturday Pit News

Drag Radial racer Adam Jude's tuner takes a comfortable approach here in the pits to check out data from a previous run.

Carlos Sobrino added a new stalker nose to his Factory Stock ride and is currently qualified third with one round to go.

Saturday Qualifying Round Two

Conrad Scarry is sittin pretty in the number one spot in Turbonetics Pro Outlaw 10.5 with a sweet 6.73 @214.

After Bruce Hemminger's run of 9.38 in Real Street, Tim Matherly answered right back with a 9.37 to set a new RS record and claim the top current qualifying spot.

Phil Hines has been fighting gremlins all weekend but is staying positive and hopes to get things sorted out before eliminations tomorrow.

Drag Radial racer Enzo Pecchini as well as his fellow Radial racers have been fighting the track all day. Enzo has been off-pace but currently holds the number two qualifying spot with an 8.30.

Elaine Larson had a horiffic crash at the end of round two qualifying. Her jet dragster headed towards the center line while in the left lane then made a hard right and hit head on into the right side wall at over 270 miles per hour. Elaine is a little brusied up but OK.

Saturday Night Bits From The Pits

Bob Cook had to do some quick wrenching to change some components on his cooling system after tech inspection. The work paid off as Bob is qualified number one in EFI Renegade with an 8.47 @159.

Final Round Qualifying

Aj Wyce did a nice job of driving and keeping his EFI Renegade car off the wall and back in the groove during third round when he put it in the air and starting coming towards myself and fellow guardrail targets.

Mike Murillo had some issues on his third and final pass for the day and had to be pushed off the track. He is qualified number two in Pro Outlaw 10.5.

Always a crowd pleaser, Charlie Booze hangs em high and qualifies number one in Hot Street.

Saturday Evening Race Recap

Today’s event has been full of excitement, record setting runs and breakage. There were several oil downs in the bracket ranks which the starting line crew here at National Trail took care of swiftly and kept the program running smooth. As I strolled through the pits after third round, there wasn’t anyone really thrashing in the heads up camps. Rumor has it Johnny Mac burned a piston but there was no activity in his pit. Bruce Hemminger blew away the Real Street record by more than a tenth during the last round of qualifying with a 9.31 @ 142. Sam Vincent jumped from third to first with a super smooth pass of 7.27 @ 188 in the Super Street Outlaw class. Drag Radial has noticeably struggled with the track today as all four competitors have been running in the mid to low eight’s, well off their normal pace. Look for faster times from them tomorrow as they work through tough track conditions. Conrad Scarry reset his own standing record and retained the number one qualifying position in Pro Outlaw 10.5 with his second round run of 6.73 @214. Factory Stock and Pure Street will have some tight racing tomorrow with the top five competitors all within four tenths of each other.
