Everyone in the industry looks forward to the SEMA show, a show set up to showcase the hottest and newest trends hitting the auto market. Many S197 models were spotted at booths all around of the show, sporting the hottest parts. Here and there you’ll come across a great classic, or a decked out brand new 2013 Mustang. New Edges are a little harder to come by, but check out this one from Orange County speed shop, 281 Motorsports.

However, one car did stand out of the bunch, one with a whole ‘nother platform. This New Edge was tucked away upstairs and was a welcome sight among the other generations spotted around the show. This is the 2002 Saleen Extreme Speedster. Missing the front bumper, it gives you a good look at what this beast is all about. Check out the walk around video shot by Cool Fords.

Let’s get down to business. When it comes to performance, this Speedster features a Vortech JT Trim supercharged, fully built 4.6-liter that has been stroked to 302ci. Cooling comes from a Ron Davis Racing air to air intercooler, and 281 Motorsports custom 6061 aluminum intercooler tubing.

Ford Racing provided the aluminum CNC ported cylinder heads and Comp Cams provided the Billet Stage 2 Camshafts. Other goodies consist of an Accufab Racing billet throttle body and Thump Racing pulley and tensioner system. Everything has been tuned together by SCT’s Livewire.

The rear end is beefed up with 4:10 gears, a Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft and ACT twin disc clutch with billet steel flywheel. It also has an Eaton Tru-Trac posi differential, Saleen rear differential cover…among other things of course.

The rumble from the exhaust comes from JBA mid-length headers connected to a catback exhaust system with a mid-pipe. Stiffening comes from of Bilstein Mcpherson style nitrogen filled struts for the front and rear, Maximum Motorsports full suspension setup and add Saleen heavy duty front and rear anti-roll sway bars. Hiding behind Saleen wheels are Saleen/Brembo 4 piston custom powdercoated calipers and Ford Racing rear cobra calipers. Helping provide that stopping power are Baer Eradispeed 2 piece cross drilled and slotted rotors.

The exterior is just as decked out as the performance side of things with Cobra “Daytona” Performance Touring, the rear seats were reupholstered to look like the front seats, the interior features billet pieces, Kenwood head unit, and Hushmat to deaden the cabin noise. The paint plays off of the SA20 Saleen paint scheme with a special blend of BASF Pearl White.
