Leave it to Ford to come up with an unusual way to satisfy a car buyer’s hunger; literally wrap the 2014 Ford Fiesta in bacon. When we first looked at the photos our first thoughts were either Ford has gone off the deep end, this is a joke, or a this car is creation from the hit Youtube show Epic Meal Time. It seems that the first one is true as Ford states bacon graphics is a real option for the 2014 Fiesta.
On their Custom Graphics menu website, Ford lists four available cured meat design options . The first of these vinyl options is bacon hood racing strips which has a price tag of $191.25. The second graphic is named Side of Bacon, this a pair bacon strips over the rear wheel wells which costs $320. Next is mini bacon strips, these are strips of crispy bacon on the front and rear fenders which are $80. Last is the Full Bacon Wrap which covers the entire Fiesta in bacon, this retails for a whopping $3,347.
The full bacon wrap reminds of us the Hot Wheels “Pizza Vette” from 1996, a car many of us owned as a kid and it may have been the inspiration behind the graphics.
The concept behind the 2014 Ford Fiesta is a car that can be customized to an Individual’s liking and lifestyle. Ford wants the new Fiesta to be synonymous with fun and individuality, and they hope to achieve this they are offering Bacon graphics. Ford states bacon has been around since ancient Rome and in recent years it has evolved into a lifestyle.
This seems to be true as there is bacon ice cream, bacon popcorn, and a bacon plush toy. Hell, the guys from Epic Meal Time even take pride in living a lifestyle that revolves around bacon. Their leader Harley Morenstein is the only person we can picture owning this car.
Even after Looking at the concept we still think it’s odd. However, members of our staff are old enough to remember when hot rodding was considered weird. Prehaps food themed cars will catch on and become the next big thing? Or this will flop and simply be remembered as a gag by Ford. Who knows, if this Fiesta becomes popular maybe next time Ford will wrap a Mustang!
