Event Preview: O’Reilly Auto Parts Street Machine Summer Nationals

Summer Nationals

The O’Reilly Street Machine Summer Nationals returns to St.Paul, Minnesota on July 14th – 16th 2017 and is already proving to be the summer’s hottest horsepower party. The show is made up of spectators, vendors, sponsors, and participants (hot rod, musclecar, street machine and street truck enthusiasts) that come to display their performance cars for the weekend and compete in the racing events, judged awards, activities and to meet other like-minded enthusiasts.

The event series is open to all years, makes and models of custom cars. The events are part of the Family Events Performance Series. Street Muscle Magazine along with Power Automedia’s video production division, Alloy Studios, will be covering this year’s event live thanks to the new partnership with Family Events.

Editorial and social media coverage will be immersive and will include vehicle features, crowd interviews, autocross competition videos and social media shorts.

What Makes The Street Machine Summer Nationals So Special?

This three-day event has something for everyone. The Street Machine Summer Nationals features over 13 separate events throughout the weekend making it the biggest muscle car party of the year. Here is an example of just some of the events that will be going down at this weekend’s event:


Participants from all over the country bring their street machines and muscle cars to compete in the Show N Shine competition. Awards are given out during the weekend to cars in various classes, makes, and models. See some of the most amazingly engineered and restored custom rides in the region.


Autocross is a driving skills challenge course with tight turns and tough competition.

Street Machine Challenge

This contest showcases the braking, handling and horsepower-generating abilities of some of the top cars in the nation. Performance cars are put to the test on the Autocross, Stop Box and Dyno – with one car emerging as ‘Best Above The Rest. (Pomona, CA | St. Paul, MN Events)

Stop Box

Performance cars test a combination of acceleration and braking performed in 150 feet.

Dyno Challenge

Pull your ride up on the dyno to test your torque and horsepower against the rest. Awards are given for highest HP throughout the event weekend.

Main Stage/Miss Street Machine Nationals Contest

Summer Nationals

The Main Stage is a hub of activity. Throughout the weekend the participants have the opportunity to turn in their ballots to win top-of-the-line aftermarket products. There is constant action at the stage with kids/adult games and show information that is available. Each Sunday the show also crowns a Miss Street Machine Nationals for that year. Manufacturer’s Midway

The Manufacturer’s Midway is popular with spectators and participants. National manufacturers are present with booths selling products and are accompanied with technicians on hand to answer product questions. Come realize the advantages of face-to-face interactive marketing.

Burnout Contest

It’s the smokiest, smelliest contest around – Winner takes home bragging rights and a trophy plus other prizes. Interested participants sign up at the Main Stage.
