If you’re lucky enough to own a 2015-plus Mustang GT, and your lead-foot just isn’t digging the 435 horsepower hammer anymore, you might want to checkout what Ford Performance has to offer.
Ford recently announced that beginning as early as next week (August 1st), enthusiasts can purchase one of three Power Packs to come over the next few months. The packages are 50 state legal, and even include a CARB EO number for California residents; allowing enthusiasts anywhere in the nation to reap the indicated performance benefits without worrying about emissions testing.
Ford Performance Power Packs Quick Reference
- Power Pack 1 – PN M-9603-M8 – August 1st
- Power Pack 2 – PN M-9603-M8A – September ’16
- Power Pack 3 – PN 9452-M8 – October ’16
For starters, the first Power Pack available August 1st (PN M-9603-M8) will include a high-flow K&N replacement air filter, as well as a unique Ford Racing tuning calibration. This entry-level package is good for a healthy 13 hp and 16 lb-ft of torque peak gains over stock. Speaking of the calibration, we should note that all three Power Packs include a unique programing. Designed for the ’15-plus Mustang GT, this exclusive calibration features a ton of favorable attributes.
Every calibration features a no-lift shift strategy and an enhanced throttle response, while also allowing for gear ratio changes up to 4.09:1, and an optimized performance shift schedule. You’ll have to run 91-octane grade fuel or higher as part of the Power Packs, but we don’t think anyone will be unhappy about that.
The second Power Pack in our trio (PN M-9603-M8A) arriving this September includes a Shelby GT350 cold air intake and 87mm throttle-body combo, along with a specific intake adapter. Keep in mind, you’ll need the additional hardware (PN M-9603-M50 w/o calibration) that isn’t included in this package. This Power Pack is good for 21 hp and 24 lb-ft of torque peak gains over stock, with up to 40 lb-ft of torque gained at 1,500 RPM under the curve.
Lastly, the third Power Pack (PN M-9452-M8) slated for October of this year unequivocally brings the ‘power-house’ of upgrades with it. Everything that’s included in the second Power Pack, plus the addition of a Shelby GT350 intake manifold and a further tuning calibration, brings power gains up to 37 hp and 5 lb-ft of torque peak gains over stock. Under the curve is where the magic happens for this package though, as you’ll see a 60 hp increase at 7,500 RPM.
Keep an eye out over the next few months as Ford Performance rolls out the new Power Packs. Check out the Power Packages’ available here for more info, including pricing and availability.
