It’s a story that is old as the automobile itself: A driver parks his car and forgets to set the parking brake. It can happen to the best of us. But one shop mechanic had the entire incident caught on camera for us to cringe at.
The first-gen mustang pulls into the shop and we watch as a mechanic opens the door, steps out, and leaves the driver’s side door open. Before you know it, the Mustang is rolling back the way it came on a course for disaster. Luckily the shop employs mechanics who are extremely athletic. The mechanic takes chase after the Mustang, and with only feet to spare, manages to shut the door, shimmies between the car and wall, and hops in the cab to hit the brake before anything can happen to the Mustang.
So what exactly happened? How does a mechanic forget to set the parking brake? Well according to one commenter, the Mustang arrived into the shop with, surprise, a parking brake issue. The shop worker got out of the Mustang originally to move a drip pan that was left in his way. This explains why he left the door open and why the car made such a quick dash for the door.
Thankfully the worker was quick on his feet and made the smart move to slam the door closed before it came in contact with the wall… wreaking havoc and potential disaster. Check out the video above… have you ever had a close call like this before? Share it in the comments section below.
