Today we’re out at Myrtle Beach Speedway for the autocross, fun runs, Vaughn Gittin Jr exhibition, burnout contest, and thrill show. It’s a warm one so we’re all staying hydrated on Mountain Dew and Monster, and taking in the on-track action as Mustangs make their way around the track.
Gibson Performance Exhaust’s S550 had a Vortech supercharger, HRE wheels, and of course, it’s new 2-inch long-tube headers, 3-inch X-pipe, 3-inch Superflow mufflers, and 4.5-inch Intercooled stainless tips. The mufflers and tips are also available in black ceramic, as well. With the Vortech and exhaust, the car made over 550-rwhp.

We thought we saw a snake this morning on the way in, and we were right. The all new Super Snake is here at Mustang Week for fans to get an up close and personal look at.
Mustang Week had its 2015 GTs here at the speedway to show off for everyone, and hopefully make a sale, or 7. Mustang Week's Mike Clay designed the black and blue model using parts and pieces from Latemodel Restoration, including SVE Series 3 wheels and suspension upgrades. The wrap was done by Bullitt Auto Detail. The Guard metallic edition was designed by Palmetto Ford's Tony Barron, and features Classic Design Concepts wheels, and an RTR suspension and exhaust. The smaller scale Mustang Week car was presented to Caleb Cook, as part of a team effort between Mustang Week organizers and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Caleb was seen tooling around the speedway in his car, taking in the day's action.
Mustang Week vendors also have their spots packed with merchandise, Mustangs, and attention-grabbing swag for attendees to check out, and try out. Gibson Performance Exhaust has its Gibson S550 at the speedway for everyone to see, and hear the company’s new exhaust system for 2015 Mustangs. The Mustangs in its booth are showing off Gibson’s headers, X-pipe, mufflers, and tailpipes.
Vaughn Gittin Jr is here today to put on drifting displays to show everyone proper car control. Many Mustang Week attendees need a few car control lessons, or leave the drifting to Gittin. Of course, as one of Gittin’s sponsors, Monster Energy has a booth here handing out cold Monsters; and yes, we’ve already had one today, and will be going back for another one, as well.
Our friends at SVTPerfomance.com has several events and parties scheduled during the week, and the guys and gal have their booth set-up selling various forms of Mustang swag, and catching up with all the site’s followers. We even got a chicken biscuit out of them (Thanks Stacy), but that’s not normal SVTPerformance protocol; most likely they felt sorry for us, and had one left over.

A big part of BF Goodrich Track Day at Myrtle Beach Speedway is the Gateway Classic Mustang autocross.
And of course, the Mustang Week guys had their 2015 event cars at today’s show. The cars were unveiled at the Meet and Greet yesterday at the Palace Theatre, but we couldn’t get close enough to get photos of them at that time. There’s more action this afternoon, including more fun runs, the Vaughn Gittin Jr exhibition, and the burnout competition at 6PM. You can read all about that tonight.
Mickey Thompson Tires, no doubt pushing its street line of performance tires at Mustang Week, had its big rig at the speedway to inform attendees of its latest treads.
What good is track day unless you get on the track, and that's exactly what Mustang fans were allowed to do.
Vaughn Gittin Jr was here putting on two shows for fans. One in the early afternoon, to be followed by another, much larger, smokey display this evening.
