For numerous pros and amateurs, Toyo Tire’s Proxes R888 DOT competition tire has been “go-to” equipment for their cars. At SEMA 2016, Toyo announced the release of its next gen race tire, the Toyo Proxes R888R. The tire is already creating a buzz with the faithful.
According to Jay Jones, “The Proxes R888R DOT is an evolution of the race-winning Proxes R888, delivering even faster lap times and better dry handling. The credit goes to a new tread design and an improved contact patch that puts more rubber on the track. Racers will also appreciate the predictable handling and how quickly the Proxes R888R reaches optimal operating temperature.”
Whether racing in the dry or wet, Toyo has been a proven asset for racers with products such as the Proxes RS1 full-slick; the Proxes RR, Proxes R888, the Proxes RA1, and the 200-treadwear Proxes R1R. As a supporter of National Auto Sport Association (NASA), many of these tires will be getting the ultimate test at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in a few weeks. The defending champions Flying Lizard Racing and their Audi R8 will run the Proxes RS1 Slicks.
“We are excited to return to the 25 Hours of Thunderhill with Toyo Tires and defend our overall win from last year,” said Darren Law, program manager, Flying Lizard Motorsports. “It is most important to showcase the speed and durability of the Toyo Proxes racing slick in extreme conditions.”
