Many enthusiasts may not realize it today, but Baer Brakes actually got their start designing and building brake upgrades for Fox body Mustangs. While more seasoned enthusiasts may remember some of those early Baer systems, many of the enthusiasts who have only been in the hobby for a few years, or are new to it all together may not realize that Baer still offers a variety of performance braking systems for Fox body Mustangs.
Baer can even configure systems to help owners retain their favorite wheel options, and in some cases even the four lug bolt-pattern through their custom ordering system. “If a Fox Mustang owner has a 93 Mustang with the four lug pony wheels, and he wants to keep those wheels we can do a system for them. Baer will take a stock Fox spindle, modify it, build aluminum hubs, in for or five lug, assemble the hubs with SKF bearings and redline synthetic grease and build an entire system on the spindle. When the customer gets this all they need to do is remove (and replace) spindles as the entire brake is built on it ready to go,“ says Baer’s Rick Elam.
Just a few of the systems that Baer makes available to Fox body owners include the four-piston Track4 system. It includes four-piston calipers, 13-inch rotors and of course the necessary hardware and hoses.
The Pro+ system uses 13 or 14 inch rotors, as well as six-piston calipers. We installed a similar system on our 2011 Mustang GT, Project Wild E Coyote. This same stopping power is available to Fox body owners. All hardware and hoses are included.
For the ultimate in Fox body stopping, there is the Extreme+ system offers massive 14 or 15-inch rotors and the awesome clamping force of six-piston calipers. Billet rotor hats on slotted and drilled rotors finish out this system. Of course hardware and hoses are also included.
