We’re still almost two months away from the first race of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge Championship, which seems like a long time. But if you’re one of the wrenchmonkees employed to put those race cars on the track, two months probably feels more like two weeks. It takes a lot of work, and sometimes a small miracle or two to get a race car totally together and dialed in for the first race.

With the Pirelli World Championship season opener set for the last weekend in March, the team at Roush-Fenway is working around the clock to get their GTS race cars ready for race day. As these photos from their Facebook page show, there’s still a lot of work left to be done…and what’s that we see in the background?

Roush-Fenway will be competing in the GTS class with their pair of production-based Mustangs in one of the most exciting road racing competitions in North America. These two Mustangs stand in stark contrast to the pair of NASCAR Mustangs we see in the background, which use the same Gen 6 Car of Tomorrow architecture as all the other teams.

The reason we like races like the Pirelli World Championship is because they give real Mustangs a chance to compete with real Camaros, Challengers, and other competitors from around the world. While driver skill certainly plays a huge factor, the advantages and disadvantages of the different vehicles adds an extra layer of flavor to the action. We’re ready for March 28th, and it looks like so will Roush-Fenway, of that much you can be certain.
