In the year of the Pony, here we are. Fifty years ago the Mustang was born. Who could have imagined this ride would not only have an impact on Americans, but would become so beloved worldwide. Crossing all political and religious boundaries. Why? What is it about this ride that touches so many on the deepest levels?
After talking with several Mustang enthusiasts from around the globe we found unique but somewhat similar answers. The Mustang represents for many a sense of freedom and adventure. Gustavo Martinez Longoria of Venezuela, “the owner of Tumustangs.com” a restoration shop that rebuilds 1964 ½ to 1973s shared with us that there are 12,000 classic Mustangs on the roads of Venezuela and around 20,000 in total with classic and newer models combined. A symbol of happiness and freedom in this country, this ride is beloved for its powerful engine, unique design, and low cost in maintenance. Celebrations are planned for the 50th birthday in this country as well as other Central and South American countries.
In the Euro scene some plan on traveling to the USA for the party of the century. Such as Manuela Mancin of Italy and France Bertrand of France These pony girls plan on making the long journey with the men in their lives who also share a passion for this special ride. Others in the Euro scene such as Thomas Zimmerman and Klaus Stadler of Germany plan on attending celebrations in their homeland with their local Mustang Clubs.
