The NMRA drag racing season is already off to a blistering start, with some of the country’s greatest racers showing exactly why they’re the ones to win in their selected classes this year. Among them are a number of SCT Performance racing team members, including Valerie Clements, Kennady Jones, Brad Gusler, Nina Gusler and Johnny Lightning, all out to prove their at the top of their games.

To kick off this race season, SCT  put together a sort of tribute/ good-luck video for all of their sponsored racers, showing off their skills at the track and wishing them luck in their remaining races. Already, this has paid off. Check out the video above.

From Florida to Maryland, the competitors in this year’s NMRA series have already strutted their stuff at half the season’s races. Though that only includes three stops, there are already some front-runners emerging from the pack and not surprisingly, a number of them are backed by SCT.

One of them is Edelbrock Renegade racer Johnny Lightning. True to his name, Lightning has destroyed the competition in two out of his three series races, making it into the final rounds and taking the runner-up position in both the Spring Break Shoot-Out season-opener and the third race of the season, the NMRA Nationals. All eyes will certainly be on him at the NMRA Super Nationals in June as he battles for the top position once again.

Another notable racer in SCT’s stable this year is Kennady Jones, granddaughter of the great Detroit Locker Truck & Lightning racer Jim Roberts. Not only is racing in this young lady’s blood, she has also proven to hold her own on the track, being named the NMRA Rookie of the Year for 2013.

Racing again in the Lightning class, Jones had a bumpy start to her season with a breakdown in the second race of the season. But with racing chops like hers, we can’t wait to see how she climbs the ranks in the remaining three races.

Another young lady proving her abilities on the SCT race team is Valerie Clements. Having raced since she was 8 years old, the young 20-something racer has seen top finishes already this year, branching into the top ranks in the second race of the season.

With an NMRA win already under her belt from last year, we have no doubt that this young lady has it in her for another win this year.

Noted husband and wife  SCT’s NMRA racers  Brad and Nina Gusler are also ones to watch this year. A proud Lightning racer, Brad has also seen a rocky road so far this season, with a first-round elimination at stop number two on the NMRA circuit. Nina has done well for herself,  taking some top positions in her races. 

The SCT Performance race team is chalk full of talent this year. As we get closer to the remaining three races of the NMRA season, we’ll be watching all of the SCT competitors closely and keeping tabs on where the season is taking them!
