Weld Racing recently increased their fitment scope by introducing the 20-inch range of SR71 RT-S forged wheels. The SR71 design has been available in 15 through 18-inch sizes previously. This model is a traditional “Weld-Star” design, now with an expanded size range including 20 x 5-inches up to 20 x 17.5-inches.
Weld’s RT-S wheels are a three-piece design, using all forged components. For final assembly, the three pieces are welded for maximum strength. Compared to other wheel manufacturing techniques, forging results in components that are stronger, lighter and more durable. All Weld Racing wheels components are forged.
The wheel centers for the SR71 product are available in three different designs to allow clearance for brake packages from mild to extra wild. The centers are also available in a polished finish or in black with machined highlights. With the combination of inner and outer rim components, the classic look of hte SR71 can be applied to most all cars, ranging from classic hot rods to contemporary muscle.
When it comes to heavy duty and competition use, the justification for forged wheels is clear. Starting with the use of high-strentgh aluminum alloys, the forging process ‘flows’ the metal into a close to final shape, as well as increasing the surface density of the piece. The Weld manufacturing process uses 100% virgin aluminum alloy with no recycled materials for maximum performance.
The result is a wheel that is capable of handling 1200 hp, 1.2-second 60′ times, 1,580 pound loads and very high rpms. When you need the same performance in your wheels that you demand of yourself, call Weld Racing. They’ve got a high performance, durable, American-made wheel for you.
