Next weekend brings with it the annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Sin City itself, Las Vegas. This auction typically sees a number of high-priced, highly visible cars rolling across the auction block, and 2011 will be no exception. Among the typical fare of classic, rotisserie-restored muscle cars, including plenty of Mustangs, comes this stand-out affair.
Next weekend Barrett-Jackson will auction off this completely custom 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback with a 700 horsepower engine, a six-speed transmission, and a beautiful blend of custom and original styling that sets it apart from the herd.
1967 Custom Ford Mustang
This particular Mustang has been well documented, showing up on the cover Muscle Machines Magazine and and finishing on the Top Five of the Goodguys Street Machine of the Year award category. And for good reason. The whole body and chassis has been customized, with the Mustang scrapping along the ground with an Art Morrison chassis, coil-over suspension, and a beefy Ford 9” rear-end.
Under the hood is where the real action is though. A 351 Windsor was stroked to 418 cubic inches and supercharged to produce over 700 horsepower. A modern six-speed manual transmission backs the engine, perhaps even allowing it to break into the double digits of fuel economy. And honestly, it is just a damn good-looking Mustang. What will it draw at auction? We’ll find out next weekend.
