The Presidential campaign season is about to kick into high gear this summer, and there’s a lot of focus (and attacks) between the top two political parties in America. Indeed, the very identity of America seems up for grabs in this election, and to hear one side or the other tell it, we’re doomed either way. And if we’re doomed no matter who is elected, why not have some fun with politics?
We don’t imagine that this survey of the likely cars of driven by members of different political parties has any serious intent, but as The New York Times reports, this study just confirms what the rest of us already know; Republicans love sports cars and pickups, and Democrats all drive hybrids and compacts.
The study, conducted by Strategic Vision, lists the most popular cars by model among the Republican and Democratic parties. If you guessed that Republicans prefer sports cars, in particular the Ford Mustang (especially the drop top), give yourself a cookie and a pat on the back. As it turns out, Republicans also enjoy driving F-150 pickups, the Mercedes GL-class, and Audi A8 sedans.
As for Democrats, well it should come as no surprise that they’re more likely to drive a Honda Civic Hybrid. Other popular cars include the Acura TSX, Ford Fiesta, and Nissan Leaf electric car. Again, not really surprising. We guess right-wingers just appreciate horsepower more…either that, or Democrats can’t afford $4.00 a gallon gas.
