Ford probably didn’t realize it at the time, but the first-generation Taurus SHO was a special car. Special enough that for the 2010 model year Ford revived the SHO moniker, this time pairing with an all-new full-size sedan and twin-turbo V6 engine. After a couple of successful years on the market, Ford felt the need to up the ante for the 2013 model year.
This next video showcases the new Performance Package for the 2013 Taurus SHO, which turns this fast Ford sedan into a track-ready beast.
The point of the 2013 Taurus SHO Performance Package is to turn the already-capable SHO into a more track-worthy performance sedan. Taking a two-tun large sedan and making it handle better on a racetrack is no small feat, and Ford went without adding horsepower upgrades in favor of suspension improvements.
Among the list of changes is a firmer suspension for both the springs and dampers, an improved cooling system, better brake pads, and stability control that can be turned totally off. It’s a step in the right direction, though we still feel as though there is room for an even more “ultimate” track-inspired Taurus SHO. What say you readers?
