Having been to a number of auto shows and new car launches, we’ve become accustomed to automakers introducing their latest and greatest vehicles with a great deal of fanfare. This usually includes a celebrity endorsement, an executive speech, some interviews with engineers, and finally a slick, well-produced video just prior to the car coming on stage.
This next video of a Mustang rolling down some country roads isn’t made by an automaker. But if Ford had introduced the 1970 Mach 1 Mustang with today’s level of video technology, and a soundtrack from Mushroomhead, it would probably look a lot like this.
There isn’t all that much to this video. The camera work is a bit shaky, sure, but the cutaways, tempo, and action shots are all in all pretty impressive. At just one-minute and twenty seconds long, this video is about the right length for an intro video. And really, the Mach 1 Mustang has always been the “bad boy” of the bunch, sporting more horsepower and in-your-face looks.
So far, Ford has only released a single solitary television commercial for the Mustang, relying instead on less traditional social media tactics. While we’re all for embracing the future, it’d be nice to see an angrier side of America’s favorite muscle car. This video does that nicely, and we are reminded of what an intimidating car these classic Mustangs can be.
