A couple of weeks ago, the racing world was rocked by the news that Mustang driver and 2011 SCCA Pirelli World Challenge GTS class champion Paul Brown had died after a long fight with skin cancer. At just 43, Brown was once seen as a rising star in the world of competitive racing, but now all we have left are memories.

The Barber Driving Experience uploaded a touching tribute to Paul Brown on Vimeo, and we felt compelled to share this collection of memories and reminders of the great Mustang racer the world just lost.

The video starts with interviews from fellow teammates and rivals regarding Brown, and they have nothing but good things to say about the guy. He is described as a “natural” who “doesn’t make mistakes”. But more than that, Brown is described as a guy with whom many people have a deeply personal relationship. He was a factor in many peoples’ lives, and they all seem genuinely thankful to have known him.

The rest of the video is a collaboration of pictures following Brown’s life and racing career. It is at moments sad, inspiring, happy, yet tragic that a man in the prime of his racing career and life can be snatched away so quickly, and with little warning. Currently, a more thorough documentary about the life and times of Brown is in the works.

Gone but not forgotten, it seems it wasn’t racing that made Brown a person worth remembering; it was his deeds and interactions with other people. We could all learn a lesson from him.
