A drag race between two sports cars are always fun to watch even if the cars are completely opposite in regards to make, performance and place of origin.
The British supercar magazine, Evo, stumbled across a rare gem on their stomping grounds, a brand new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with it’s whopping 662 factory horses and 331 lb. ft. of torque. They couldn’t resist a golden opportunity to take it to the drag strip and pair it up with one of their own, a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe.
While these aren’t comparably priced, however, one is really packin’ in the performance department. The Shelby is a monster on the straight-lined drag strip running all out. While the Benz is still very nice, it just can’t keep up despite the rapid seven-speed automatic and about 200 less horsepower. If one car knows about horses, it’s the Mustang.
Maybe more Europeans will try to get their hands on the Shelby GT500 with a base price of $54,995, plus of course the hassle and fees to get it shipped overseas. They would still pay about the same price for their very own Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe. We may be just a tiny bit biased, but we think the Stang has a little more of the intimidation factor, while the Benz has more of that sleek luxury look, as usual.
Despite the difference in horsepower, it’s still an awesome sight to see watching our domestic beloved kickin’ arse and taking names overseas against one of their high performance Mercedes AMG Coupes.
