In April of 1964, Ford introduced the world to the 1965 Ford Mustang. It would go on to set sales records that year, and to this day it remains one of the most popular cars on the planet. To be sure, just about anything that can be done, has been done to a ‘65 Mustang, so there aren’t too many redone Mustangs that can really surprise us these days.
Yet today’s eBay find is a truly glorious homage to the original Mustang, complete with an extensive rotisserie restoration and a fuel injected 289 engine, the V8 motor that helped launch the Mustang’s meteoric rise.
A fuel injected 289 is actually something we don’t see very often, as there are admittedly easier ways of adding EFI to a classic Mustang. The most popular option for adding fuel injection is a simple 5.0 swap, but this “rip-roaring” 289 looks a helluva lot sexier with the eight injection stacks sitting atop it. Backing the engine is a race-prepped T-10 four-speed manual transmission, and a beefy 9-inch rear end puts power to the road.
But the Mustang was just as well known for its on-track handling, and Classic Car Studio highlights the awesome suspension enhancements made to this Mustang’s setup. From tubular A-Arms to adjustable shocks and Wilwood disc brakes, this Mustang is a much better corner carver than the original factory ride. And you don’t have to look twice to know that that is one quality interior, and the Shelby GT350 appearence is absolutely appropriate if you ask us. With a claim of over $120,000 invested, the asking price of $59,995 seems downright reasonable.
This sexy ‘65 Mustang definitely belongs with an owner who will show it off and ride it hard on the same day.
